That's the really important thing.
And I didn't have an idea of it being valuable in any way.
You know, little girls, value is placed on them quite quickly when they're small.
Oh, she's so pretty.
Her hair is beautiful.
Look at the way she moves her face.
But I just thought I was deadly.
I was just one of the lads.
And I talk about that in the beginning of the book.
I was brilliant at football.
Still am, by the way.
But I was brilliant at football.
And I could play like everybody else.
And I had this wonderful sense, like most kids have, that my body had a purpose.
It was to carry me through life.
It was to help me breathe.
It was to help me have joy everywhere.
You know, I appreciate the outside, but unfortunately, because of the experiences in my home, the experiences of being a girl, the experience of being vulnerable, I lost that real strong sense that my body was amazing and was really powerful.
So my dad was a philanderer.
That's the word that I like to use.
