The act of being a legitimate World Series contender means you can't be patient.

Nobody gets to hang around based on potential.

And I like that fans are there.

When there's some real booze in the stadium, like people give a damn.

Like for too long, this has been the city where the starter will give up seven runs over five innings and he gets a pleasant round of applause coming off the mound.

And I'm up in the press box thinking, like, come on, you know, not everywhere is going to be Philly or the Bronx.

I get it.

But I think that fans have an understanding now that this is a competitive World Series team.

It's not a team that's just here to participate and maybe get invited to the party in October, which is what it's been for years.

I was really surprised when I heard the level of booze on Brendan Little.

And I was surprised when I heard it again.

People are engaged and expecting something.

expecting something just beyond family fun at the ballpark.

They want to see a team win, and I think that's a very good thing, guys, because that was new to me.

I'm not used to hearing boos like that at a Jays game, and it shows a fan base that gives a damn.
