I think it's all lining up for him.
I think Gosman, more than anyone, is someone who really genuinely wants to be here.
And I've heard that from guys over the years.
We did this whole dance with Beau Bichette, too.
Money is always going to win.
But I think those considerations, we see this with Max Scherzer, matter a little bit more when you're getting into late 30s.
You have a full family and kids who love being here.
I think I caught Gosman almost getting a bit emotional yesterday on the podium when he said how much he loved Canada, that it's the best decision him and his wife have ever made is coming to Toronto for this phase of his career.
Again, money matters.
We can't only look at the emotional side of this.
But if he starts out hot, I mean, I think it would make a ton of sense for he and the Blue Jays to explore something short term.
I don't know what the numbers on that would look like, probably over a two-year type of agreement if he wants to keep pitching.
That said, Kevin Gosman is also a fully formed and functional human being outside of the sport he plays, which is not something I say about everyone I cover.
You know, he's someone who has two young daughters who he's aware he wants to be there with as they're growing up, you know, before they get too cool to be around dad and all that stuff.
So there's family considerations.
But I really believe, guys, and I've played this game every single year where someone says they want to stay here.
I believe it's very genuine with him, and I think it would make a ton of sense to explore extending this a bit longer.
He's already been one of their best signings of all time, model Blue Jay, and I think there's more potential there.
