And Krugman's view is that, you know, he is for tight money as he puts it when when there's when there's a Democrat in the White House and for easy money when when there's a Republican Republican.
So, you know, the approval kind of ran along those lines.
But also, you know, there was some pushback against Donald Trump's treatment of Jerome Powell, even from Republicans earlier this year.
And, for instance, Tom Tillis, an outgoing senator, effectively blocked any pathway for Warsh to complete his nomination until October.
basically charges, legal charges that the Fed and Jerome Powell was facing were dropped.
He was effectively lobbying for the for the job.
He he believes that the Federal Reserve needs what he what he has termed a regime change that essentially it has sort of become too broad and diluted in its remit.
And he certainly caught Donald Trump's attention by suggesting it needed to eliminate.
Much of these things have been eliminated anyway since since Trump returned to power.
You know, it's interest in sort of climate related economic growth.
investigations, I guess, and also DEI related policies and just get back to the fundamental business of, you know, achieving the desired interest rate of 2% and, you know, keeping an eye on the overall employment figures.
Yeah, I think, I mean, when he appointed Powell, I'm not sure he gave all that much thought to it.
And I think he assumed that Powell would be more malleable than he proved to be.
I mean, through a sort of an onslaught of Trump pressures on various institutions and institutions,
People, Jerome Powell really, really stood.
He was unyielding in the pressure he faced for the past sort of couple of years.
Warsh is far more closely aligned, Donald Trump, but because of, you know, economic realities here at the moment, particularly with the pandemic.
with climate inflation and, you know, fuel prices caused by Donald Trump's war with Iran.
It remains to be seen if he's going to be able to lower interest rates this year.
The general feeling is that he won't.
