And the full circle moment happened like seven years later when Kubernetes came out.
I remember coming back to that office and they had already been running etcd in production, Kubernetes in production,
And even some of the old tooling I had was still running.
And to me, that was like a really important feedback that sometimes if you make an impact, lasting impact is way different.
That even when I wasn't there, they still had the culture to say there's new technology and we know how to bring it into the stack.
I didn't.
Oh, you didn't?
No, because I'm at Puppet Labs.
You know, before that, I was contributing to core Python stuff like virtual int, PyPy.
I was on a team that was trying to integrate some of the Python.
Now, Python had a package manager problem even back then.
And so I'm all in on Python.
And then when I'm learning Puppet, I'm all in on Ruby.
At that time, I'm thinking DevOps plus configuration management is the end all be all for everything.
And really, at that time, we're talking 2011, 2012.
In my mind, the competition was only between Puppet, Chef, and Ansible.
That was it.
And so I'm all in and I'm working at Puppet Labs.
And so we're kind of, in some ways, I felt like we were dictating the future.
We were going to companies and getting them to understand configuration management.
