I will never forget.

As soon as I walked in the ring, I just got a stinging smack to the head and

all I could hear is bells ringing.

Uh, and of course that, that, that used to get me really going.

So I, I then went on the attack throughout the fight.

I was literally, uh, just punching it out with him.

It was punch for punch.

It was a, a very, um, brutal amateur fight because in those days they didn't stop fights when someone would bleed.

So I had a cut eye and, uh,

He had a bleeding nose.

So he bled everywhere.

There was blood everywhere.

My eye was cut and by the end of the third round it was closed like a Rocky Balboa fight.

And at the end of the fight I just knew that, you know, I didn't know whether I'd won or lost but I knew that I'd hit him a lot of times and I couldn't knock the guy out.

He was just so fit and solid physically.

but I constantly moved forward and moved forward to him.

I would never back away.

I just kept moving towards him and I won the fight.

I won in a unanimous decision.

They raised my hand and as that hand raised, there was a photographer took a photograph, which I still have that photo to this day.
