They weren't part of my regular work.

And it's very hard to charge someone for a case like that because there's a lot of hours you end up doing.

And I thought I'll just take certain cases I would take on pro bono.

And this was one of them.

And some of the other matters that I've worked on have been highly publicised.

And one of Celine's best friends, Justine, she had seen me on another program involving a missing young Belgian boy in Byron Bay.

And she had reached out to me straight away and said, would you be able to help with Celine's case?

And just to have a look.

at what the police have done and, you know, just give us some advice.

And that was all the request was initially, just can you help?

And I looked at the case and I was immediately interested in the case.

You know, I had a grieving mother on the other side of the world.

She had vanished, completely gone off the radar after a walk in Philosopher Falls.

And I decided to start looking into that case and getting access to the data which Celine had left in her Google account.

And once you looked at that data, had access to it, what could you discover from that?

Well, I had spent a lot of time doing work with geospatial analysts from the military.

So I'd spent time working with these guys on other cases and understood the fundamentals of tracking data, how data can leave a trail.

And over the years, I've learned a lot about how data can be used.

to track people and their locations and signal strengths and all these things.

So I had realised that when somebody has their location services left on, they leave GPS coordinates wherever they go.
