I've spent 10 years with him. I would say, hey, we need to do this. This is the right thing to do. He goes, man, what are the optics here? I'm like, who cares what the optics are? This is the right thing to do.

I was at his announcement at Mar-a-Lago. You know, elected officials were there to support him that first. There were lots of regular people there. Me and Troy Nels at the very first announcement. Everybody then was like thinking it might be somebody else and no one wanted to tell you. They weren't sure because you had these indictments and... It's the same thing with Trump.
