It's like you have a secret.
Like you and I could write a song right now and only us would know that it exists in the world until it comes out.
That's the thing that always, I'm not comparing creativity to golf because I don't love golf.
But when I did play golf, it's like you spend all day out there hitting shitty balls.
And then you hit one that's perfect.
That's the thing that keeps you coming back.
I've always said writing songs is a lot like fishing.
You can go out there one day and not get anything, but there's that one day where it's just magic.
So that's where songs come from for me, whatever that source is.
And these people go into writing camps, and I get that.
And OK, we're going to make an appointment to write a song.
But the best songs come when they're lived.
