or the vile nature of the offending.
And it was this reference to this unnamed TD that really threw the spotlight on this case.
Questions were asked, obviously, about the identity of this TD.
That supplied a reference that, as the judge said, didn't refer at all to the child victim in the case.
Yeah, so the case was back before the courts on Tuesday for judgment and Ramamurthy's appeal was dismissed.
But during the hearing, there was an application from the Irish Times to have the affidavit, the testimonial in question from the TD disclosed to them.
That was refused by the judge and he went on to clarify that he had made the original comments about
this affidavit and that it was actually a former TD that he had been referring to.
And he said that all of the references that had been supplied really just spoke to the previous pro-social conduct of Mr. Ramamurthy and that beyond that, there was nothing in them that required to be disclosed.
So this attempt to uncover the identity of this former TD failed again.
The judge, like I said, he said that beyond the pro-social conduct of Rama Morthy and that it referred to his conduct in his work circles, all these references seem to be quite similar on what they're saying and he said what they've said.
There's no reason for him to disclose them.
He admitted, he said, I think the phrase was that he doesn't live in a teapot.
He was cognizant of all the media coverage around this and the fact that there's questions being asked about the identity of this person.
He said he knew that, but that he would not be disclosing who it was or opening up those testimonials to the media.
And that was that, essentially.
Yes, so all the main parties were contacted.
They said they weren't aware of the identity of the TD who provided the reference.
Sinn Féin said the party could confirm no TD of theirs provided the reference.
Social Democrats confirmed the reference did not provide a member of their party.
