We'll see how he fares on an everyday basis with the ups and downs that are eventually going to happen, but this is a guy who could be a major, major difference maker for the Pittsburgh Pirates this season if he's in the starting lineup.
going off that kevin are the pirates going to try and make a deal with conor griffin and what could that what could those numbers look like well i saw somebody suggest that they a 10-year 150 million dollar deal and i can't imagine he would accept that i i think this is a guy who already knows he's probably worth more than that if he's going to be giving up years of free agency uh so you know
Let's put it that way.
Ten years, 150 probably wouldn't get the deal done.
It would probably require over 200 million dollars, maybe 250.
But I don't know if the Pirates are going to do that.
I don't know if they want to invest that soon before he makes his debut.
But that's what teams around Major League Baseball are doing.
You're seeing it all over the sport.
whether it's Corbin Carroll or Junior Caminero, you know, Colt Keith, teams around Major League Baseball are signing these guys.
I think Roman Anthony signed shortly after his debut with the Red Sox.
You're seeing teams sign their top prospects, guys that look like can't miss stars.
They're signing them to long term deals even before they do debut or shortly after, trying to lock them up long term so that you have kind of a franchise opportunity.
superstar to build around.
And I certainly think that's how the Pirates view Connor Griffin.
And if they haven't thought about doing that, they certainly should because they missed their opportunity to do that with Skeens.
And now we're kind of counting the days of how long the Pirates are going to have Paul Skeens.
But if you're going to have Paul Skeens, why not pair him with Connor Griffin and try to maximize as much talent on that field as you can
And I certainly think that if you bring up Griffin now, he's surrounded by enough talent that the expectations aren't going to be too heavy for him.
I don't think anybody's going to say this is a guy that is the franchise savior and he has to carry the team.
