It's a difficult one because, you know, aged 25, they'll be sat around the table one day and they'll say, mum, you know, what you did was unforgivable because we had this pool and this beautiful house and our friends came around and then you put us in this wooden box that was freezing cold and nobody came to see us ever again.

And I have no social life now.

I'm damaged.

I do know children who have said things like that to their parents in adult life.

If you experiment on people, you know, beware.

Yeah.

And this is another case in point.

So the important thing to say about this house is that it sits on a conventional plot, but it is not a conventional house.

It sits slightly below road level.

It is not rectangular.

It is curved.

It is like the letter C, and it's glazed on the inside.

and not glazed on the outside.

So the floor and the back wall are masonry, and the front wall facing the sun for most of the day, because it's curved, is drinking in the solar energy of the sun in order to heat the building, and for the heavy thermal mass components of the floor and the wall to absorb that energy and then radiate it out.

In a sense, it's a very early form of passive solar heating.

And in the 70s, it was experimental.

It's got a big single curved roof.

It's one room deep.

That's important to say.
