And so, yeah, I maybe got another two caps on that tour.
um which was pretty crazy uh so i think that day we're playing munster i was on the bench for the wales test so i did a full tuesday training yeah um with the test team and in the morning game was wednesday was it no no game was that night oh that night yeah so i was a hybrid player um so i was kind of it was probably like the old school yeah you know like so yeah train
with the test team and then go home back to the hotel have your pre-match and then I was on the bench for the night for the Munster game as well yeah so it came on and it was tight and I was like oh shit this is interesting and actually the crazy thing was that game um
about, I think Mills was captain, he got subbed off and then maybe about 20 minutes to go, Pete Gallagher, the physio, came on, ran on the field and he said to me, Kieran, you're captain.
And I was like, this is my second game for the All Blacks.
I've just come off the bed yeah I was like I kind of probably said no I was like what I was like what are you talking about no and um so yeah so yeah I was kind of I was a bit weird um were you like did you talk about it afterwards that was a conscious decision that yeah from them yeah from the coaches they had that's cool yeah um
Which I, yeah, it was, yeah, I guess it was, and when you look back, it's like, oh man, I'm trying to give you opportunity.
But then also I was like, man, have we lost, is that new?
It took a while for it to come out of me, eh?
But it was awesome that coaches always just gave me opportunities to bring it out of myself.
So the line-out thing in 2009, suddenly I was calling the line-outs by the end of that year for the All Blacks.
