About three days before the draft, if I'm not mistaken, the Falcons, in desperate need of a new quarterback, after years of Matt Ryan taking us once to the Super Bowl and then not doing much of anything in the playoffs, decided that he needed a strong veteran quarterback to lead the team into the new era.
And the tides were changing.
And so they went out and they hired Kirk Cousins, who had been is kind of a journeyman.
He's kind of been all over the NFL, but he's known as good quarterback.
They felt like they could do something with him.
So he still had a couple more years left in him.
And so they paid him one hundred and eighteen million dollar contract for four years.
One hundred million of it guaranteed.
