Nvidia made about 3% more revenue than expected last quarter, and one area in particular was front and center for investors.

All eyes were on Nvidia's data center division, which supplies the high-end hardware that runs AI inside the world's sprawling tech warehouses.

It was hard to miss, after all, with the department beating sales forecasts by over a billion dollars and revenue rising 75% from this time last year.

That was enough to mark a milestone.

The division now makes up over 90% of Nvidia's total revenue.

Even better, the chip company stressed that much of that coin came from customers beyond big tech, supporting its recent claim that AI spending is spreading beyond just those few famous firms.

Nvidia's profit margins held steady too, soothing investors' worries that the cost of increased production or tight supply would start to pinch.

In fact, supply doesn't seem to be an issue at all right now.

Nvidia says it's secured enough inventory and production capacity to meet demand for at least the next few quarters.

Looking ahead, the chip titan said it should make 7 percent more revenue than forecast this quarter, even with the assumption of zero data center sales to China due to export controls.

For the last few months, investors have left Nvidia's shares sitting around the same level, despite Big Tech revealing ever-growing AI build-out budgets this earnings season.

They had two main reasons to be cautious, and both are still worth bearing in mind.
