So firstly, when a landlord does choose to sell a home, that home doesn't disappear.
It becomes available for a renter to buy.
So these weird-ass questions that we get about whether or not, you know, oh, no, what will happen when the landlord has to sell the home?
A renter might buy it, guys.
That is a good thing.
So that answers that aspect of the question.
In terms of what else is in the budget for renters, absolutely nothing.
Yeah.
Sorry about that.
Again, it shouldn't be that way.
There is some detail that says there might be a marginal, like a tiny, tiny increase in rent.
But I think the important point is landlords have no cause because of this budget to be putting up people's rents because they get to keep all of their perks.
So they have no reason to be increasing rents, except if they're being greedy and opportunistic, which not everyone is.
And let's hope that people aren't going to be that way.
But the thing that we need is a rent freeze and national tenancy laws to actually protect renters, make sure they're not living in some bloody clapped out, mould ridden
rental because it's the only thing they can afford.
Like we deserve to have good quality homes for everyone.
And renters deserve to have healthy places to live that are like properly insulated for the weather.
And they deserve to be able to be able to save enough to eventually buy if that's what they want to do.
Well, you know what else happened 20 years ago?
