Well, obviously we've seen a pivot, right, Steve?
There's a lot of anti-Israel rhetoric on the left and also now on the right, where we're seeing extreme hostility towards not just the state of Israel, but also Jewish people.
I called this Israel derangement syndrome, and I know you and I kind of got into a back and forth last time I was on your show, but my point was that we need to start focusing on the bigger picture.
People want to criticize Israel.
When you break down the number and you look at the actual numbers of aid, the value of aid, you have $3.8 billion per year.
Sometimes it's 3.3, sometimes it's 3.8 that we give Israel.
Now, there was a report, Steve, that came out the other day
that showed that our return on that investment is about $48 billion a year, whether that's through weapons sales or technology or investments in pharmaceuticals, whatever it may be, we certainly get a lot more out of our relationship with Israel than we give to Israel every single year.
Doesn't matter what the numbers are.
There's no convincing a very large fraction of Gen Z and also a growing number of leftists and also conservatives that our relationship with Israel is beneficial.
that's not going to change the fact that Israel is always going to be our ally, as you just pointed out.
And so when I was in Israel, I met with military officials, I met with members of the Knesset, I met with high-level Israeli politicians, and I had discussions about this.
And ultimately what I said is, well, why don't you just embrace cutting off aid to Israel?
What's the worst that could happen?
You're a sovereign nation.
I mean, if the United States is getting $48 billion a year out of this relationship with Israel and our investment into Israel, then it's our loss, really.
It's our loss as the United States of America if America doesn't want to appreciate the return on investment with...
the aid that we're providing Israel every single year.
I also told these officials when I met with them that I don't think that Israel does a good enough job highlighting the benefit of our relationship with Israel.
What do I mean by that?
