You are announcing yourself as a team that should be expected to battle for the World Series right now and next year and the year after that and for the duration of this contract.
And when you sign somebody like this with everything we know about him and why he made this choice and everything you're telling us about him...
you are saying that he's going to help push you forward.
And for the duration of his contract, the Cubs should be a World Series caliber contender every damn year.
And that is different than the way this thing has felt since they unloaded you Darvish and non-tendered Kyle Schwarber and downsized and then slowly built it back up and went for it with this sort of
Well, we're good enough to win the National League Central.

Now you're telling us and you're supposed to be good enough to win the whole damn thing every year of this five-year contract.
