But the Republicans in their one big beautiful bill provided ICE and Border Patrol funding.

So this is outside the normal appropriations process.

So even if the government were to shut down, funding for ICE would not be halted because it has been funded through a separate bill.

So in large part, this is symbolic when it comes to ICE.

But on the other hand, what seems to be the best outcome is if Democrats can secure some sort of accountability or agreement from this administration when it comes to ICE.

Because if the administration doesn't want to enter into this shutdown.

So, you know, I keep turning the conversation politically, even though this is a very real and deadly and important situation with ICE.

But the optics and the politics really matter because it's who has the upper hand and who can get what they want.

And it seems like Republicans at this point might not be good for them to be arguing about.
