That's a good question. And here's my best attempt at an answer. The Holy Spirit is who draws us toward Christ. It is God reaching out to us, whispering in our ear, God loves you, Sean. God made you for him to spend eternity with you. He is the one seeking us before we even seek God.

To blaspheme the Holy Spirit is to turn our back on that and say, forget you, don't want anything, and you live your life saying, I don't care about God, and you die in a way that means you're gonna end up paying for your own sin, because you didn't accept Jesus' payment on your behalf.
