Kids, you can play along at home.

I play, what's my idol?

So I play this game with my students because if they know their idol, they have power.

Your idol is what will always lead you astray.

And when you look back to the times of your life where you suffered the most, it's because you were beguiled by that idol the most.

And it's always one of four things.

Money, power, pleasure, or honor.

And honor means, like internet famous, maybe- Credibility or something.

Yeah.

Prestige.

admiration of the right people or admiration of lots of people success addicted people who get famous when they're young they seek the admiration of strangers that's the honor idol and we can talk about that one because that was super dangerous what was the third one pleasure

Money, power, pleasure, honor.

Those are the four.

Now this comes from Aristotle via Thomas Aquinas in 1265 and his Summa Theologiae.

He was an unbelievably adroit behavioral scientist way before his time.

And all this stuff that we're talking about here has been completely validated by modern neuroscience and behavioral science.
