And as a child, I loved her because she made me feel really good about myself.
Whenever I did anything that was a bit silly, I could find comfort in the fact that Anne Shirley had probably done something similar.
Yeah, the author is Lucy Maud or L.M.
Montgomery.
She's a Canadian author.
And the book is set, it's a fictitious setting, but it's actually based on Prince Edward Island.
And I think even today, I've not been there.
It's a bucket list item.
But Fiona, the friend that I discussed the book with, she's actually been to Prince Edward Island and they've reconstructed
the village of Avonlea, which was a fictitious village.
But I believe that there's like Anne of Green Gables house is there.
So one day I might go see that.
I think it's a comfort read for me.
I feel I know those characters pretty well now.
I know what's going to happen, but I still, I mean, spoiler alert, I think it's a classic, so I can probably talk about what happens.
Or maybe I won't, but I won't spoil it.
Oh, go on.
um and develops a very beautiful relationship with her adopted parent i guess he is matthew although she never calls him dad she always calls him matthew throughout the novel matthew is a very soft-hearted man and a very quiet um softly spoken man who falls in love in in friendship with this little girl who was supposed to be a boy they were hoping he and marilla to get a boy to help
on the farm and Marilla actually originally wants to send Anne back but Matthew digs his heels in, which is not really a Matthew characteristic, but he digs his heels in and they keep her.
And so I know this story and I know that at the end of it Matthew will die.
