I was diagnosed with ADHD at age 60, and I've had it all my life, and that diagnosis explains a lot.
And one of the things that I find the most distressing about it is that my working memory is very poor.
Unless I very consciously plug into my body and say things like, you put your car keys in your coat pocket instead of putting them back in your purse.
Or, you know, your sunglasses are on the table, not in your purse.
If I don't do that, then I feel like I'm wandering the world unconscious.
I will be walking across the house with a tool in my hand to go do something and I get distracted and I set that tool down and I have zero memory of having done it or where I put it.
And I feel gaslit by myself, like I am gaslighting myself.
And it makes me really crazy and undermines my confidence.
And I wonder if there are any exercises to do or any way to help make that better or at least not feel so bad about it.
