last season when the team had a record-breaking 55 games throughout the year, which is at our level at this point in our careers, having games every three to four days is actually better for our body because of this routine.
So I wouldn't be surprised if we see Messi constantly finding his peak, getting further and further into the season, wanting to play almost every match.
Now, he knows his body better than anyone.
That's been said by Messi, that's been said by Mascherano and Yones Caloni.
So if he's able to, he will be on that field that first day against LAFC and every game until his body just won't go anymore.
necessarily say it's more important, but it definitely garners this rhythm that we're talking about, especially as Inter-Miami not only consider the MLS regular season, but the CONCACAF Champions League, which everybody in that team has now said is that pending homework.
Now, Inter-Miami co-owner Jorge Mas said, we are after the CONCACAF Champions League trophy.
So if that means getting a couple more reps in,
in a friendly in Puerto Rico, in addition to MLS regular season action, which is on a weekly basis, not biweekly, as we see sometimes throughout the season, then so be it.
As long as these players and Lionel Messi are in rhythm, CONCACAF Champions Cup is the target and any other trophy second.
Again, I think it's important to emphasize just because athletes, when it comes to this level for them, being at peak shape means training the body to play every three to four days.
Now, this isn't a new athlete and he's done so for almost his entire career.
We saw it
throughout his time at Barca, playing in multiple competitions.
So at this point, his body is used to it.
And it's interesting because during the MLS Media Day, which is held in January, I spoke to players throughout the league who mentioned that actually this two-month break was harder on their bodies than a longer and more condensed season with multiple tournaments happening at once.
So again, referencing Suarez's quote of,
We like to play every three to four days.
We like to have our bodies in shape and referencing these players who mentioned that two months is too long of a break.
Rest, for us mortals, may be something extremely different for a player of the caliber of Lionel Messi.
