And that is somebody that Tatum looks up to.
And I'm just speculating here.
But that is somebody that he looks up to.
He loves the mythology of Kobe, which is weird being a Celtic and loving the mythology of the greatest Laker of all time, arguably.
But I do see some symmetry there.
And I do see Tatum...
pushing himself for whatever glory this looks like, right?
Because I think in this era, more than any other era, I think that players are thinking about their legacy and their narrative at all times, especially in the current social media landscape and beyond and just how we talk about these players.
And I think that
at least what he would think is this would be a nods under his belt to come back so fast and then obviously to help his team, but to come back so fast to be a great player in the playoffs for the Boston Celtics and maybe go win another title.
What gives me pause on all of this is...
It's one thing, like we said, for a Durant to come in in the beginning of the season and play a full season.
But it's a really tall ask if Tatum does come back to expect him, one, he could be 85% of himself, but expect him to just fall in line with this offense and this team in this way.
There's going to be some growing pains.
And it's a really hard axe to put a player of that caliber who has historically had that level of offensive responsibility to just shoehorn himself into a team that looks...
There's some things that are the same about their team, but this team dynamic is vastly different from the team that he left.
And I do think that there's going to be some friction in there just trying to integrate him into this current flow.
And that's what I'm scared of.
I know we talked about last pod about Jalen and how they're going to coexist.
I kind of softened my stance over the last couple of days just thinking about that.
