Everything will be fine.
I will be normal.
And we get to truly start fresh.
It's almost like I was holding my breath until my brother was born.
And the whole time, my dad, obviously as the sole provider at the time, he was barely home.
He was a full-time taxi driver.
And he loved it.
He absolutely loved taxi driving.
He always loved driving in general.
He was a bit of a rally driver in Serbia and he basically felt like he was in control of his own destiny when he was behind the wheel.
And...
As a result, I rarely ever saw him.
You know, he would leave very early.
He would come home very late.
And his presence in my daily life, I would see his uniforms hanging as my mum ironed them.
And eventually she would teach me how to iron them.
And it was a strange experience.
I actually get a bit emotional thinking about ironing my dad's uniform and his epaulets.
Like he was the best dressed cabbie out there because he had the crispest uniform.
He always smelled amazing.
