And that was really the hardest, the hardest thing to shift is...
is who am I?
Who actually am I outside of this?
Outside of the only thing at the time that I thought I was contributing that was good in the world.
And funnily, you know, you mentioned success.
I didn't think about myself as successful at all.
In fact, the idea of success was terrifying because it meant pressure.
You know, imposter syndrome, I still suffer from it, much, much less so now.
But when your job, when everything about your job is made up, and yes, everything is made up, but my job is really made up.
You know what I mean?
Like everything is just decided by a whim.
You know, what do I feel like doing today?
And that doesn't sit right with me because I like structure.
I like stability.
I like predictability.
I like control.
And art does not do well with control.
It just, it stifles you.
It takes the oxygen out of it.
And I wasn't thinking about myself as an artist.
