It's like, oh, the boy needs less protection than the girl because he's a boy.
That is so not true.
And it's not fair.
Vulnerable men need just as much protection as vulnerable women.
Now, obviously, I have beef with that because, you know, just because you're a feminist doesn't mean you're not saying that boys don't need protection or that you don't care about protection.
It's just absolutely falling into that false narrative that like feminists hate men.
But then she later wrote the newspaper for clarification and said that the word is tricky for her to use.
And she wrote that growing up for so many years, the word had so much negativity and confusion around it that I didn't personally complain myself or proclaim myself as a feminist, even though when I look at the values and morals of what a feminist is, of course, I align with them.
um and then you know look this is the thing this is the problem it's all about linguistics and semantics and it's like if you believe that everyone regardless of gender should have equal rights and opportunities which is how the united nations defines feminism then you're a feminist and like that's what she's saying she's saying boys shouldn't receive less care than women because of feminism and it's like mate that's not what it is that's not what any of us want
Nobody wants that.
It's about equality.
It's literally about equality.
But as you say, the patriarchy has managed to spin it so effectively that now there are lots of women like Shania and particularly of Shania's generation who just don't even feel comfortable using the word.
And in itself, it's offensive because if you want to be a blue haired lesbian, be a fucking blue haired lesbian.
If you want to grow your armpit hair out and burn bras, do it.
A hundred percent.
You know, even, even that is so effective at like minimalizing and, or minimizing, excuse me, and patronizing women and categorizing certain women as like monsters, essentially.
It's so offensive.
And I just think it's really disappointing when we get this kind of narrative from a
or someone who's as famous as Shania Twain.
