And she brought me some notes

reading material in Russian from Colonel Igor Penkovsky, who tried to defect from Russia.

And it said that Adolf Hitler had had a unit called Dr. Grunbaum in Germany, and

And that it did medical experiments on the Jews and all this.

But one part of it was also psychic spying.

Germans lost the war.

The French, English, and the Americans didn't want any of this psychic stuff, you know.

So the Russians took it and they had developed it.

Well, by the 1960s,

we were losing classified information like crazy.

And they couldn't find any ground agents.

They couldn't find anybody.

And that's when Igor Penkovsky tried to defect and brought the documentation that said the Russians had been doing that.

And everybody had a laugh about that, but the intelligence service doesn't laugh.

They don't laugh at anything.

And so they said, well, if the Russians can do that, let's do it right back at them.

And so they went out and hired Hal Puthoff and Russell Tarb, who were laser physicists, who had published a paper

showing how the intentions of the researcher can even affect a laser light beam.

And, you know, with the double slit experiment and all that.

So they gave them an initial contract.
