And so the ones that were voted the highest in the last landing site are these two over by Isidis Basin, Jezero Crater and Northeast Sirtis.
These other ones, Eberswald Crater and Marth Vallis,
also scored pretty well.
But what came out of the landing site workshop was that they also have a committee of people who meets at the end.
And they basically decided that for engineering reasons, they wanted to narrow this down very quickly because it's hard to build a rover if you don't know what site you're going to.
So these kind of got scratched off.
And now we're left with these two and a possible third one of the Spirit landing site.
But I don't think we're going back there.
So I think it's these two that we're going to be going to, one or the other.
And the thing about these two that people like is that there's carbonates there.
So these are some of the only places on Mars where we know that there's carbonates.
And there's also very old rocks.
So if we go to one of these sites, we'll have access to the oldest rocks that we've ever seen from a Mars mission.
So that would be pretty exciting.
So I just wanted to show you a little bit about where these are.
So this is Jezero Crater.
So one of the landing sites is in here.
Never mind all this.
I just wanted to show the context.
And Northeast Sirtis is up here.
