The people at Anthropic...

And they are one of the big AI companies.

I've spoken about them before.

They're warning the world that we should put the brakes on when it comes to AI.

So they've said in a statement, we believe it will be good for the world to have the option to slow or temporarily pause frontier AI development to enable societal structures and alignment research to keep up with the advance of the technology.

That's what they're saying.

They know what's going on.

They know what's happening.

They know about the exponential advances in artificial intelligence.

And then they go on to talk about recursive self-improvement.

Have you got it?

Recursive self-improvement.

And it's the acceleration...

of advances creates a feedback loop that Antropic warned could eventually lead to what researchers call recursive self-improvement.

That's the idea of an AI system that becomes capable of essentially teaching itself to get smarter without much human help.

They say we're not there yet and recursive self-improvement is not inevitable.

while adding that it could arrive sooner than most governments and institutions are ready for.

The evidence suggests that the human role is narrowing at each step in the AI development process, the company said.

So they're making money from this and yet they're saying stop.
