What's interesting about this is when that trade deal was announced, Trump was positive about it.
He said, quote, this is what you should be doing.
If you can get a deal with China, you should do that.
But then after Carney's speech, he changed his mind and threatened tariffs.
So I think the bottom line here is that Trump is very unpredictable.
That's why he's forcing other countries to de-risk, to separate from the United States and look for other partners.
It was a super-threatening speech with a little nugget embedded in it, which was the pullback, at least for now, of the threat of using force.
And I think that he did that to calm the stock markets who are very agitated about this.
He did say, I am seeking immediate negotiations to discuss the immediate acquiring of Greenland by the U.S.
So does that mean he wants to negotiate something and he won't use force or he's just backing off for now because it got such a bad reaction?
No, they didn't tell me nothing.
Instead, he's been kind of fixated on taking over Greenland, a move that would effectively mean the end of NATO, which he acknowledges.
He was asked how far he would go to take over Greenland.
He didn't repeat his threats to use military force.
He said that he'll come to an agreement through talks with NATO, something that NATO will like.
Trump isn't following the strategy as far as affordability is concerned.
All anyone is talking about in Europe and in Davos, this big business meeting, is Greenland.
And he's supposed to be going over there to talk about housing.
His advisors have promised a pivot to affordability with a lot of new ideas to bring prices down.
