And I was really torn between do I go back and attend my best mate's, not best mate, but great mate's funeral.

Or do I hang around and in the end sort of thought, well, you know, he'd probably want you to play.

Yeah.

And the All Blacks sent a massive bunch of flowers.

So I think it was, so that was my first game.

Yeah.

And then my first test was in Scotland in 1993.

playing oh did you oh far out well grant fox had retired and uh the and it was me and steven baship and he couldn't tackle sorry he didn't like it as much as and what was it like um i guess running the cutter for the all blacks on oh it was incredible i mean it was back in the day when scotland were you know not too hard to beat yeah i think we uh

I got a couple of tries.

Jeff Horson got three tries in his debut and we got a pretty easy.

Oh, his debut together?

Yeah.

And Stu Forster was halfback.

So, Stu and I had played a fair bit together.

So, yeah, good times.
