I was so loud.
I was nothing grey.
And they say to survive in cadetships in the military, you should be somewhere in the middle.
But actually, they learned about me and I learned about them.
And some of it was me moderating my behaviours because of the impact on other people.
And some of it was for them to open up and say, well, actually, you know, women can do it and you're just as good as the lads.
Yeah, the one, like everyone says to me after seven years, God, you really loved your job.
And I did.
And it was really hard to leave.
But I really miss being at sea.
Yeah, and I had never been to sea.
I had never even been on a boat or a sailboat or a ferry even to France.
I'd never been at sea.
No, nothing.
And I don't get seasick, which is amazing.
That's like such a blessing.
But then the resilience of people who do, the people who do 30 years in the Navy and still know that for the first three days they're going to be sick, like really sick, and they still do it.
That's admirable.
Why?
Why would you do that?
