And that's exactly what happens in The Hound of the Baskervilles.

I know we've talked about this, the combination of the coziness of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, the familiarity of the formula, the fact that we're in safe hands with them, but also, as you say, the supernatural side.
sort of horrific mystery of the hound on the moors.
I mean, that's something that really sticks in your mind.
