hitting home runs, and driving it eight runs in a game, and then watching last night's game, who came up with the game-winning hit, I was like, did I miss Matt Chapman's fall-off?
Because he looked very much like the Matt Chapman I remember in this series.
No, don't do that.
What I do need you to do is suspend your expectations for the Cubs.
How about that?
Oh, no.
How about that?
Because what I learned this past week as they faced an A's team that is still scrapping for a playoff spot, because they play in the American League West, and I watched a bad Giants team, is that the Cubs...
They're not good enough.
And when I say they're not good enough, here's what I mean by that.
They would have gone 0-6 this week if not for PCA having just an outstanding hair-on-fire week, four home runs over the course of four days, hitting almost 500 in the month of June so far against this bad competition.
And yet the only games they won were the games where PCA went off.
And I'm setting this up, Mark, just to let you know.
PCA cannot save the Cubs.
PCA is leading the National League in war as a position player so far this season.
But PCA could have the type of season he had last year in the first half and it still would not get the Cubs to the playoffs because PCA doesn't pitch and PCA can't bat more than one time through the order.
And so if the Cubs are going to make a push, because remember, they're right now out of the playoff spot.
They're chasing other teams.
They're in fourth place in the National League Central.
If they're going to make a push, forget about the division.
