He's not a free agent until 2031.
You have plenty of club control.
I think the thing with Davis Martin, outside of the fact that he's beenβ
Elite this year is something that I talked about with Scott Merkin on hit and run over the weekend is that Davis Martin is important to that staff from a production standpoint, but also he's kind of like the glue in that room.
And you when you have such a young team.
and a guy that people have gravitated towards, and he is also productive, that becomes a really big part of your success.
And they've had a lot of success as a rotation, and he's been a really big part of that.
I think for all those different reasons,
I'd be really surprised if that happened.
I also think when you're talking about moving guys, you talk about the club control, how much time does a guy have left before he hits free agency and things like that.
Not saying that if the Sox are in a position to be a seller at the deadline, they won't look at, all right,
we need to move this, we need to move that, this guy only has one year left, or this guy's going to be a free agent at the end of the season.
All these teams do that.
But to say right now, because Davis Martin is pitching so well, he's automatically on the trade block, I don't think you can think of it that way.
That's what I'm saying.
Did it once for not enough of a return from St.
Louis, by the way.
