And that is probably how you will spend money.
And you can't, and the way to fix how someone spends money is probably not to shame them out of it by telling them it's a waste of money.
It's so true.
It's exactly the kind of thing my dad would say.
Now, I want to pick up on the idea of emotional spending because I think that's the tip of the iceberg.
And I actually think almost the key to this entire conversation.
For me, there's quite a few times where I've noticed I'll spend and I'll feel really anxious.
I'll feel anxious about it.
And weirdly, it's I don't know what it is, but new clothes.
I feel like that really expensive new clothes.
But I love the feeling of feeling confident in my clothes.
And I love fashion.
Do you have any examples or tips for someone to start getting a bit more familiar with the idea of understanding that money and spending is emotional?
If you don't feel like you want to go down the route.
of looking at your bank statements, because I know it's really scary to people and like finding out how you feel every time you spend money.
I think you just need to think about or sit with the feeling that you feel when you do spend the money.
So if you go through your day, let's say you wake up in the morning and you get a coffee on the way to work.
If that makes you feel good or does it make you feel a bit like, oh, that was a waste of money.
This is just a bit of a habit that I don't really value.
Then you stop doing it.
