You know, to me, it kind of brought traditional music, kicking and screaming, into the modern era.
It was a bit of punk, a bit of trad, a bit of rock, whatever.
I saw them live.
So I did French and German at college.
I was in Berlin as part of my kind of German studies there.
And I saw them in a place called the Valtbuna, which is a stage in the middle of the woods.
And this is in the summer of 89, just before the wall came down.
And they played the Star of the County Down as a cover near Bambridge Town in the County Down, which is where I'm from.
So I kind of felt as if they were singing that one just for me.
But I saw them loads of times in London at the London FLA, the Finsbury FLA in Finsbury Park.
And like to me, they just kind of epitomise something about the kind of London Irish.
They're as much a London band as an Irish band.
And I just love their kind of energy and, you know, the politics and the passion.
Like some's like, you know, raining out in Soho, whatever.
Like it kind of, you know, it kind of was the backdrop to, you know, my life in London.
So my little wife was from Sheffield, so I know the turf.
He's like Richard Hawley's from Sheffield, would be an associate of Jarvis Cocker and Pulp.
Like to me, Richard Hawley, I just love his style.
