I'll say this in slight defense of Matt. It's just like, listen, there's no good way of breaking up with someone. You're always going to be the bad guy. People are allowed to not have feelings. Clearly, per Rachel's version of the story, it lacks tact and sensitivity and empathy and care. And it definitely gives Rachel every reason to be angry and hate Matt, for sure.

I do always say like when you break up with someone, sometimes the most selfless thing. I don't think Matt was trying to be selfless. I think he was being selfish and like he didn't know what to say. So he just did it this way. But like when you break up with someone, if you give them a lot of reasons to hate you early on, it's definitely easy for them to move on.
