the toughness of pittsburgh he's behind his players but the the call last night like i i there's no way i'm not getting ejected on that one and uh i thought he was going to make his way down the first base and go after him all right he chirped a little bit but he stopped short of going there but i thought he would too because it was the first base umpire not the home plate umpire why would he be arguing with the home plate umpire it's not his call well the home plate umpire tossed him so he's the guy that threw him out so that's why he came out and then he kept like
Well, the other point, too, though, is he's saying the home plate umpire should have called a swing also.
It was that definitive of a swing.
That should have been a, I'm ringing him up on that play because I saw that also.
And he just didn't get to first base.
But I was waiting for him to get to first base.
It would have been a lot more fun.
Well, I'd say one of the things that people don't realize is he runs the whole spring training.
Really?
Yes, like the schedule on the board, the whole way through, like from stretch to what fundamental we're going to do.
Yeah, like he's in charge of like โ now the pitching guy takes his pitching people when it's time, but like when it's a team fundamental, we're doing pop-ups and relays, we're doing bunt plays, we're doing first-to-third defenses โ
So he structures how the day is going to go every day, the bench coach does.
And then basically he is that guy.
He's in Donnie's ear and giving ideas and making sure probably, I guess now that's different from my time, is he's hearing the analytics.
Hey, this guy's just against lefties.
Don't forget that, you know, don't forget that, you know, whoever, Triola โ
really is 0 for 10 with five strikeouts against this guy in the bullpen.
If he comes in, we might want to switch.
I think he's like, maybe he's the guy, I'll say it is, he's the step ahead.
Like he's always keeping Donnie a step ahead.
