Absolutely.
And I think you're seeing a little bit of that from him right now.
I was fortunate enough in my career to have two only minor league and major league relief appearances.
The first guy I pitched in the big leagues and the last day of the four times I pitched my rookie year.
So I never had that.
And if I put myself in his situation...
I'm not going to lie.
Part of the reason I retired at the end of it was if I figured out a way to get back from the major shoulder surgery I had, it was probably going to be in the bullpen.
And I didn't know if my reconstructed shoulder would be able to bounce back and pitch back-to-back days.
I was so used to having a certain amount of time in between to get into my โ similar to being in what spot you are in the lineup, right?
Good segue to that.
I was used to having that time off.
I think with Barco, you know, there's just โ why I didn't think he'd be in the rotation early, but I think he will be in the future, is just because you have some younger guys in the rotation.
So to add another guy that you're going to take care of in the rotation, even though the one thing he has that none of them have is he's throwing left-handed.
So I think that's the part where people thought he would be in the rotation.
And I really believe โ
that Barco deserves to be here, should be here, but I think we're going to see him get some starts in AAA at some point.
When the bullpen gets taxed or used too much, I think you're going to see him in a situation where we need to bring up Sisk or we need to bring up somebody else from down there because we need bullpen innings that we can throw right away.
But it's good for him at a young age to learn how to do this.
And this is the big leagues.
