If you had a chemistry set or maybe even nation state resources plus cloud code, you know, what does that enable you to do?

And if it turns out to be really helpful at those things, then it gets a higher danger rating.

And then the idea was to say, once it passes a certain danger rating, you want to have certain mitigations in place.

They weren't even saying they're not going to release those models.

They're saying they're only going to release those models when they have the mitigations in place.

And I think maybe this is total surmise, but it's like, maybe they just realized you can't really fully mitigate these things.

like you can't make you can't make a model that's useful for like you know genome research but not useful for smallpox virus research or whatever and and they tried really hard to do that and and they realized they couldn't and and so the option is is basically like well either we're either we just literally can't make any more models or we're gonna have to release these in dangerous mode and

do our best with the mitigations i guess it's not that they have no mitigations if you if you ask them hey can you tell me the smallpox genome i'm pretty sure it'll tell you no and i think flag that luckily you can just google that but your point stands yeah fair point so so that that's that's what i think i think it's worth it to go into the weeds a little bit on like what what is rsp actually

Because I basically agree, like you, you want to incentivize them, even if they're your friends to be like, all right, can we, can we try to get back on track?

Like, can you, I understand right now the creation of these safeguards is more art than science.

Okay.

So can we put like way more energy into that?

And, and then you can keep doing the scaling and just have, you know, maybe it's going to cost you a lot more money to do this, but I think they would all agree.

It's really important.

All the people we know who work there would agree that it's really important.

It's just incentives, right?

It's, it's all, it's all we really have is, uh, is that kind of incentive at this point.

I was just going to say, like, I know I'm bending over backwards to be charitable now, but like, it's better to formally say that you've abandoned your RSP than to just be like, well, of course we passed the RSP.
