In March of 2024, a 78-year-old woman in San Francisco named Mary Fong Lau was driving her Mercedes SUV around 70 miles an hour in a 30-mile-per-hour zone on the wrong side of the road in the residential neighborhood known as West Portal.

But she didn't get very far.
