It's totally fine.
I'm doing all the things Megan said.
I'm ready.
It doesn't matter if they say it back or not.
But of course, like I'm going to be really hurt if for whatever reason you're not ready, because then I'm going to make a judgment around it.
I'm going to fill in the gaps of what I don't know or don't understand with my own story.
And my own story is going to be like, I guess I'm just not lovable.
Or I guess I'm just not enough.
Or I guess maybe they loved someone else more or
I'm going to fill that story in right in my own way.
So yeah, it can really change the dynamic unless we talk about the why.
So why I'm ready to say I love you and what it means to me and why you're not and why that's okay right now.
We've just got to fill in those gaps with the real story.
Which actually, it feels really counterintuitive, right?
Because whenever we're really anxious about something, often we'll avoid it.
We'll pull back, we'll withdraw, we'll offer less.
So it feels really counterintuitive to actually offer more and explain more about where you're at in that moment.
And so if your heart's racing and you feel really nervous about it, your brain and your body are doing exactly what they're meant to do.
