And if we're smart...
We're homo sapiens.
We're the thinking ape, allegedly.
And I believe that we can, from this crisis, make a better future.
And that's going to involve undoing a lot of things.
It's going to involve a really clear analysis of how and why capitalism is failing us.
as societies.
And what's next?
What's next?
It's not more coal.
It's not more gas.
It's not more selfishness.
It's about very simple human values.
And it may mean, in inverted commas, a lower standard of living.
But I don't think a lower standard of living is living in a place where everyone is fed, everyone is housed, everyone is educated, everyone is clothed and everyone is connected.
You know, if we have to do that and it means that we have less access to material flashy consumer goods, you know, I call that progress.
And I think we're going to arrive at that point.
At least that's my strong hope and that's what I'm going to work towards.
Yeah, well, there will always be people who are too defensive to be honest about what was done here, and that's just the fact of it.
You know, it was 200-odd years of trying to wipe First Nations out, and that failed.
