I think where the real frustration comes is you do have the best prospect in AAA.
So the fans see it as like, what are we doing?
But at the same time, Connor Griffin is doing exactly what he should be doing to say, hey, by the way, thank you for the failure in spring.
i'm really close when you guys are ready i'm ready that's what you want because we can just enhance it then makes our team better overall and trio hit the last part of the season right and then he had a good spring a really good spring so you are kind of like is it just going to be something that's temporary he can bounce you know into something good because this entire offense outside of low or lao and hearn have really been struggling to start season
do you think they should move them out of that six hole triolo and replace them with either davis or even nick gonzalez i i think there's something to be said and you know i've talked to a lot of guys about this just having an idea where you stand because you become a different hitter right if you're in the sixth hole that's a guy that usually has a lot of swing and miss but is a run producer when it comes to swinging the bat um pedro alvarez for example before that 13 season hit sixth a lot
um because he had swing and miss but man he could really do some damage so yeah i think you could think about you know moving him down he really thrived kind of jumping from the bottom of the order to the top of the order last year um he seemed to understand that role and it fit his i guess identity at the plate so it'll be interesting i think they're trying to figure out the balance of that batting order
Yeah, my favorite about it the whole season was in the 10th inning when he drove the ball to the right side.
He's trying so hard to stay on the ball and hit the ball the other way.
In college, he had a lot of thump to right center.
And even in the minor leagues, he showed that.
He has not been able to show that often.
The only game I can remember where he really highlighted that is that two-home run game against Otani in his rookie season.
So I think, like, if he can stay this course, to your point, Austin, this guy is โ
bought in they're giving him the reins and the way he's catching and throwing and even his blocking has been as good as i've ever seen it at this point this year so i think he's going to help our team in a multitude of ways but we can't sit here and say oh we got to have his bat i think the bat's going to come and this could be a huge bonus at some point and if it's what we think it can be man that's going to be special because we have to remember this guy caught 682 innings last year
The typical starter catches well over a thousand.
So he's never had this opportunity where he's going to get into that territory where he may have a run like he has in the minor leagues for two, three weeks where he's harder than fire.
He's never had that opportunity in the big leagues at all.
Yeah, I'll tell you something that Jacob Wilson told Jack Wilson, and obviously Jack came to me because we're really close.
Out of all those guys outside of Skeens, Ashcraft was the toughest guy.
All those guys.
