He's like, yeah, you know, everybody else would get up and leave the room because they thought we were legitimately mad at each other. He said she just believed what she believed, and I believed what I believed, and neither one would back down, so... I always found that interesting, where I get my stubbornness from, although my father's got it too. So I get it from both sides of the family.
It's odd because sometimes I get overwhelmed with emotions and I don't have anything to tie that to because again, mom was gone when I was really young. She was out of the picture when I was really young and I'm like, just need a second.
I think it's about what I missed, you know, like what could have been affects me more than the actual sadness of losing her because I don't have, again, I don't have any memories of us together. So I don't, it's not like, gosh, I miss that. And gosh, I miss that.
My heart knows there's a hole there.
Nobody came forward and said, hey, we did it. Nobody admitted wrongdoing. I mean, it was swept under the rug. So for the family, the reason we're still talking about it, the reason I'm still talking about it is because I would love for... In my lifetime, I would like to know what happened.
I don't expect at this point in time, 50 years later, for there to be a perp walk, somebody in handcuffs saying, I did it. That's not what we're looking for. We just want to know if anybody out there knows what happened, what happened.
So over the years, I've described a breakfast at a kitchen island bar piece where one side is the kitchen, one side were two bar stools. And I can remember my older sister and I having breakfast, just cereal of some sort at that bar.
Then we can't see inside, but, you know, It's tempting to want to go peek in the window and see if anything flashes or if I remember anything from that long ago.
That movie came out when I was 14, 15 years old. I didn't understand how Hollywood worked. So, you know, Meryl was Karen. In my head, jokingly, my daughters refer to Meryl affectionately as Grandma. You know, Hollywood played such a key role in how we view everything. So I kind of drew myself to think, right, so that's who she was.
Was it a single car accident? Did she simply fall asleep at the wheel? Or was she forced off of the road and struggling to get back on and not seeing the concrete culvert in the dark in front of her, smashing into it and ending her life? There's never been a definitive answer. Both sides told a very different story that night of what happened.
And as her son, I would like to have a definitive answer of what really took place.
Right. With his hands tied, which, you know, it's, I'll take what I can get, but I don't know that I'm going to have all of the tools I need for this particular mission.
The fact that there's still so many people afraid to tell what they know or what they've heard, it's amazing to me that 50 years later, a company that barely even exists, if it does exist at all, still has that kind of control or that kind of intimidation.
In Oklahoma, Kerr-McGee was Oklahoma. You know, you can't go downtown and not step on their streets. There's the Dean McGee of the Robert Kerr Boulevards intersectioning down by the courthouse. So, I mean, Kerr-McGee helped build Oklahoma.

I remember getting an email from the president saying, this Temple student is missing, here are her details, keep your eye out. We had just started classes, and I remember having a conversation with my friends, like, whoa, we just got here, this is happening already? After that, we kind of changed the way that we went out and we operated at Temple.
Like, if we go out, we're all going home together, or, like, at least make sure that we're in pairs. Like, we just made sure that we were extra safe at that point.
This was something I couldn't look at as just a story. You know, it had happened in the neighborhood I was living in. I was a temple
When I got to the courthouse the first day, it was definitely like a, oh, this is real. You saw Jenna's mom, you saw her dad. And it became really clear that this was a story that was hitting very close to home. I've never been at a case before that felt like that could have been me.
I remember being shocked because at the sentencing, I looked over at one of the reporters and a tear was rolling down her face. Like this was a case that was really emotionally charged. I think it hit everyone hard, but especially Temple students.
After seeing everything that happened, I would just hope that college students everywhere, you know, will be a little bit more cognizant of their safety. To stick together. And you really have to lean on your friends.
Temple is really just like a couple blocks of college campus and then it is North Philadelphia. It was kind of like literally the city was your campus. You could do anything. It makes it a really cool space for, you know, the arts and social justice. Temple is also really well known for its communications and journalism school. Students who go to Temple have to be really independent.
They have to be very on top of their things. They know that there's opportunities in the city that they can go and look for. Most of the things we did outside of class were off campus.
I remember having a conversation with my friends like, whoa, we just got here. This is happening already.
She was a scientist at heart. So, you know, she had left college, married my father. She probably was like, hey, I'm getting to get back into a scientific field, which is something that she really excelled at and wanted to be a part of.

I do remember that phone call. It was Judge Martin.
He just said, there's a suicide note, suicide note, suicide note. So he did direct me straight to the note.
Something didn't set right. And for me, it all pointed back to that note, that suicide note. I didn't speak up. At that time, I'd been a police officer for six months. If I could go and turn back time, there are a lot of things I would have done differently.
I would not have known at the time when I got there that he had been doing CPR.
He pulled her off the bed and put her on the floor in order to do CPR.
Yes. Even as a police officer, I would not be as calm as he was that night.
He wasn't sweating. He did not seem to be in any type of physical distress.
My daughter was dead. There was a piece of paper on the end table and something didn't set right. Your wife took her own life and it's pretty obvious.
My name is Michael Irvin. I was a patrol officer with the city of Hewitt, and at that time, I had only had about six months of actual law enforcement experience. I was the first officer to respond to the house. There was actually an EMT that met me in the front yard. Matt Baker actually met us outside and then walked us in, and he took us straight into the bedroom where his wife was at.
There is a glass there that was actually still cold, if I remember correctly, which led into his account of what happened that night.
He left to go get a movie. While he was gone, he came back and he discovered that he couldn't get back in there.
There was a piece of paper on the end table, and something didn't set right. For me, it all pointed back to that note.
In the note, there was reference to Cassidy. Matt explained to me that Cassidy was their daughter. And it's a very difficult time for Carrie because of the anniversary of Cassidy passing away. The first person I remember showing up after me, I explained all the things that Matt had shown me, and I took a step back.
