The world of the novel that Jasper Ford has created felt very whole to me, very complete.
Did it feel that way for you?
What details made it feel believable to you?
It does feel very real.
There are very good details about the kind of food they like to eat and this kind of apparently this fantastic dandelion alcohol that they like to drink and where some of them live in the boroughs.
It sounds kind of like a rave.
That's right.
We should talk about that.
So Peter Knox is the human and we sort of follow the world through his eyes.
But the family who move in next door to him are Constance and Doc, so Connie the rabbit.
And it turns out Connie is an old friend of Peter Knox's.
They went to university together decades ago before she was โ all the rabbits were turfed out of university โ
And Peter was born after the great event where rabbits became anthropomorphized.
And yeah, Connie is a fantastic character.
Rabbits are also very sexual, very direct, love talking about sex, love talking loudly about how much sex they have.
So Connie's a real kind of breath of fresh air, I found.
And I should say that rabbits have their own spirituality.
They, you know, where a lot of Christians have the cross, they have a circle.
They have what's called the circle of lifefulness.
And the idea is that you were all here for a goal.
