Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has invited the leader of Somaliland to visit Israel and says he'll seek immediate cooperation on agriculture, health and technology.

The two have also agreed to exchange ambassadors.

Somalia, Egypt and Turkey condemn the move, arguing that recognizing a breakaway region is a threat to international peace and security.

Somaliland broke away in 1991 as Somalia descended into civil war.

The leaders of Denmark and Greenland issued a joint statement demanding respect for their territory after Trump announced that he's appointing Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry.

Greenland belongs to Greenlanders, the statement went on to say.

Polls there show that while most Greenlanders want independence from Denmark, an overwhelming majority reject the idea of joining the U.S.

The State Department wouldn't comment publicly on the lists that have been floating around of the ambassadors being pulled back to Washington, but one official who asked not to be named described this as a, quote, standard process in any administration.

The written statement says an ambassador is a personal representative of the president.

and it is the president's right to ensure that he has individuals who advance the America First agenda.
